At The Eyeworks, we pride ourselves in our standard of patient care. Not only in our expertise and experience in helping you to choose from the latest range of frames, lenses and contact lenses, but in the equipment and diagnostic tools available to our optometrists.
We are committed to providing exceptional patient care in a relaxed atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. We aim to deliver a personal service combined with an in depth understanding of the very latest developments in optical health.
We have two practices on the Wirral, located in Bromborough and in Upton.
The Eyeworks was established in Jan 1997 as a newly formed optometric practice in Bromborough in Wirral. The aim was to offer the highest level of patient care but provide a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere that any member of the family would be happy to experience. This location was specifically chosen for ease of access, with free parking and good bus and train links to enable all members of the community to benefit from such an experience.
Our aims were to take time to examine the eyes and explain conditions and outcomes to the patients, then give a full experience in helping to choose the frames according to face shape and skin tone, in collaboration with the best lenses for each individual’s lifestyle and budget.
This was to allow The Eyeworks to examine and improve the vision of individuals and families from the age of 2 through to 102 ! Dylan Barton was the original optometrist and one of the founder directors. The practice has developed from scratch into a busy independent practice.
In 1999 David McGowan joined the Eyeworks team and as a result a new practice was opened in Irby village. The practice was to continue the ethos and ethics already established at the Bromborough practice.
During the next few years both practices continued to grow and so Dylan and Dave took on an optometry graduate (Ben Duffill) to mentor and help continue his training. Ben passed his professional exams at the end of that year and became another fully qualified optometrist in the Eyeworks team.
Hence in October 2002 as a result of a third optometrist a new practice in Upton was opened.
In early 2006 Ben left The Eyeworks to return to his hometown of Middlesborough to be closer to his family. With the loss of an optometrist and the lease at Irby being due for renewal, the decision was made to combine the practice databases at the Upton practice and hence amalgamate the two practices into one.
In 2007 the Bromborough practice underwent major redevelopment, transforming the practice and improving the surroundings, comfort and patient experience.
In 2011 the two practices became the first in Wirral to invest in 3D OCT technology. This was followed in November 2012 with a second OCT for the Bromborough practice, so each testing room had its own OCT.
During the summer of 2013 each practice embraced Ipad technology, with the latest SPARK dispensing system, allowing greater accuracy and patient video explanations.
In Autumn 2013 the practices invested in the latest equipement units with the added benefit of still and video technology on the microscope system, so front of eye problems can be monitored and explained far easier to the patient.
