CONTACT LENSES

At the Eyeworks we are able to fit and supply most types of contact lenses. 

GAS PERMEABLE CONTACT LENSES

These are small lenses (usually 9.00 to 9.50 mm in size) constructed of a solid plastic material, that sit on the cornea when worn. Due to the nature of the material they take a lot more getting used to than soft lenses, however they are particularly applicable for certain prescriptions or conditions of the eye (i.e. keratoconnus).

SOFT CONTACT LENSES

These lenses are larger in size (usually around 14.00 mm) constructed of a very soft flexible material that overlaps ther edge of the cornea by about 1 mm all the way round when worn. They are available to fit most prescriptions and the range includes:

             - monthly disposable spherical lenses
             - monthly disposable toric lenses
             - monthly disposable coloured lenses
             - daily disposable spherical lenses
             - daily disposable toric lenses (very limited range)
             - daily disposdable coloured lenses

SILICONE HYDROGEL CONTACT LENSES

Advanced technology since 2002 has seen an introduction of these new soft lenses that allow much more oxygen to the cornea when worn (hence a lot healthier).  Available in:

             - monthly disposable spherical lenses
             - two weekly disposable spherical lenses
             - two weekly disposable toric lenses (limited range)
